We are a research group headed by Jaron Kent-Dobias at the ICTP-SAIFR.
Our group studies the theory of disordered systems – from spin glasses to inference problems – and of critical phenomena in and out of equilibrium. We also study any other problem in statistical mechanics that is sufficiently interesting!
In disordered systems, we focus on the relationship between static geometric and topological properties of a problem and how physical dynamics or optimization behaves in practice.
In critical phenomena, we develop scaling theories for equilibrium systems with novel singularities at their phase transition and in out-of-equilibrium systems.
